GOVERNMENT
The City of Hoisington operates under the Council/Mayor/Manager form of government. This style of government combines the political leadership of elected officials with the managerial experience and knowledge of a professional city manager. In this form of government, council members are the leaders and policy makers elected to represent the citizens. They are tasked with developing policies that accomplish the citizenry's desires and needs. The City Manager is tasked with carrying out these policies and ensuring that these policies are being applied uniformly and efficiently.
CITY COUNCIL
In Hoisington, the City Council is comprised of two members from four different wards. The council members are elected for staggered two-year terms. Every year, one member from each ward is elected and installed for a two-year term. MAYOR
The Mayor of Hoisington presides at council meetings and serves as a spokesperson for the community. The Mayor plays a significant role in intergovernmental relations and also serves as an ambassador for, and defender of, the Hoisington community.
The Mayor of Hoisington is elected at-large and serves a two-year term. Chris Kinman is the current Mayor of Hoisington.
